Summary:
JangoMail proved to contain many features that most other services did not offer. Oddly, the service lacked some of the basic features that the majority of email marketing services come equipped with. With a few upgrades this service could by the top choice.
Highlights:
The major thing that separates JangoMail from all the rest of the programs is its adherence to 100% branding control. The user will never see "Powered by JangoMail" at the bottom of the e-mails. There is also complete control over where CAN-SPAM requirements like an unsubscribe link and physical address go, therefore they are totally integrated into your e-mail’s design. Finally, you can brand the tracking domain (the domain used for open tracking and click tracking) so that JangoMail’s domains does not appear anywhere within the body of your e-mails.

JangoMail also has an exceptionally comprehensive HTML editor. To help you compose HTML e-mails, the system includes a powerful browser-based HTML editor that supports Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), real-time spell checking, and a Microsoft Word document cleaner (removing unnecessary code that can alter the look of the email in different programs).

JangoMail is also the only web-based e-mail service provider that can connect to desktop and Internet databases in real-time. It fully integrates with Access, Excel, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Goldmine, Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Thunderbird, or even web-based e-mail like Yahoo! Mail or GMail without having to export and import data and without having to converting to CSV files. This is very helpful and saves the user plenty of time, not having to import export data, having the ability to synchronize with the user’s desktop.

One of JangoMail’s added benefits is an Auto-responder/Drip Campaign option. This will allow you to send out on recurring sending schedule, interacting with your subscribers based on their activities as they relate to the account with JangoMail.

Another nice touch that wasn’t encountered very often with other companies was that JangoMail offers unlimited image hosting and supports international languages.

A very user friendly feature that JangoMail implements is their tutorial. What separates their tutorial from what is offered by other email marketing companies is that the system immediately takes you to the help menu upon signing in. A comprehensive set of tutorials including a getting started guide, basic sending tutorials will help get the new user acclimatized.

JangoMail allows you to send campaigns to a list of your subscribers, defined by specified data. The system will take you through a process that allows you to segment by the criteria you are looking for (within your current contact list) and then send out to that portion of your list based on the search that you’ve performed. This is a nice little extra that few other email marketing companies provide.

JangoMail’s Web Site Activity Tracking feature, allows the user to add one line of code to each page of a website. Through this function the user can track an e-mail recipient’s movement through the web site after clicking a link in an e-mail message, giving the user a better idea of home many subscribers they are converting into sales.
Criticism:
  • The biggest concern considering how well designed certain portions of this service are engineered was when testing their service against SpamAssasin. JangoMail returns high spam scores due to the company being listed on the URIBL "grey list", as well as not having valid SPF records.
  • Although JangoMail provides a help section that is great for new users, a FAQ section or searchable knowledgebase, live chat for instant answers and additional reading material like articles and resources would greatly improve the service.
  • JangoMail provides a free trial, however it is meager, and their fees are far more expensive than comparable services. The trial account allows the user to send to up to 50 recipients. To send more an upgrade is required. The setup fee is $500, which will be cut to $100 as a "special" (one sign that it is completely unnecessary). Their costs are as follows:
         $50.00/monthly - 2500 emails per month
         $100.00/monthly - 5000 emails per month
         $200.00/monthly - 12,000 emails per month
  • One of the biggest shocks that JangoMail does not have a duplicate check to filter out duplicate email addresses.
  • Also, the WYSIWYG editor is Java based, EditLive, so you need Java installed before you can use it.
